What he discovered is that the effect transfers far beyond snakes. When someone confronts an ancient, visceral fear and discovers the thing they were terrified of is gentle and harmless, something breaks open. It does not stay in the room. It moves into every corner of a person’s life where fear has been quietly making decisions for them.

Daryl proved it on himself. He carried a lifelong, paralyzing fear of wasps, spheksophobia. When he learned that wasps, like snakes, can be harmless and beneficial when left alone, he applied his own method to himself.
It was not incremental. It was transformational. He walked through something he had carried his entire life, and it changed how he approached every fear that followed.
